What Makes Our School Unique?
Glenview is unique in the fact that eighty percent of our student body is of Non-English background. Glenview is a true multicultural neighborhood school. We have 14 different languages spoken by the families at Glenview. All of our students live within one and a half miles of the school. We serve over 23 apartment complexes. Many of our school personnel are bi-lingual as well. The faculty and staff are dedicated to every student and are committed to providing a balanced curriculum education. Glenview teachers use only scientific based approaches to ensure intentionality and effective teaching in every classroom and at every grade level.
Glenview embraces our partnerships with the families of all our students. We have an open door. We offer a Parent University where our parents can come and learn English. We have Family Literacy Nights, Parent Workshops, PTO, Teacher Conferences, and festivals both in the autumn and spring of the year in which students, parents, and faculty can express pride in their culture.
Glenview's mission is to become an exemplary elementary school in the state of Tennessee, by providing faculty and staff with high quality scientifically based professional development in association with the collegiate community. We have set high expectations for student and staff to succeed; by diversifying instruction to meet the needs of our students, their families, and the community in which we work. Glenview's vision is to be a school that has an environment that promotes academic excellences and tolerance; recognizes diversity among its students, families, community, and faculty. Glenview's goal is to maintain high academic standards by being data driven, reflective, and intentional in our instruction in order to be effective teachers.
This is reflected in the TCAP data for school year 2009-10. Glenview Elementary had the highest TVASS gains out of 75 elementary schools in the district in reading and is number three in math with a fifteen percent gain. Glenview is in good standing this school year 2009-10.

PENCIL Partners
PENCIL Foundation, a nonprofit organization, links community resources with Nashville public schools. A PENCIL Partner is a business or other community organization that teams up with a Metro school to volunteer time and donate resources that promote student success.
With the assistance of our partners, K & S Heating and Cooling, Kroger Corporate, Embraer Aircraft, MPI, and CTDI, our expectations of success are consistently rising. In addition to financial contributions, the most significant help has come through donations of teaching supplies, books for students, incentives for students and teachers, assistance with Field Day, and a commitment to perpetuate learning and growth in our school.
